Tap to hear how God used painting to heal my heart.
Hi! I’m so glad you’re here where I can share a bit about myself and my journey as an artist, author, and teacher.
I developed a love for painting in High School and studied art and history at the Ringling School of Art and Design as well as Palm Beach Atlantic University. While I painted occasionally after that, art wasn’t a driving focus for me until I had a simple yet life-changing encounter with God as a young mother. I share about that encounter in the video above.
Creative process became a meditative place of healing for me as my passion for painting was solidified in 2016. I mostly created noir landscapes in oil using the all prima technique, as it lent itself to shorter windows in the studio as my young children slept. To my surprise, I quickly started selling work.
Around this time I was given the opportunity to start and lead a team of artists at my church who painted during the worship service. That opportunity stretched me as an artist in sharing my process openly, and learning to paint large canvases within the allotted time frame. This experience showed me how deeply the creative process can impact the human soul and shape our communities.
Next I started teaching out of my home studio. I began to notice patterns and common themes that came up for my students as they pushed through their personal creative barriers. Issues of perfectionism, fear of failure, and comparison were brought up and dealt with on the canvas. Hearts were being set free as they bravely engaged in the freedom of painting. This is when I fell in love with teaching.
My work shifted from the dark night sky to the fragile organic shapes of florals. I discovered the power of abstraction and its ability to communicate movement and freedom through line and shape. The ability to allow for mystery to inform the viewer became a new goal. Thread being the beauty of creation outside and within us.
In 2025 my husband and I launched into a new adventure of opening a cafe and gallery space, Canvas coffee + art house. This space was a dream 7 years in the making; a place for people to rest, be inspired, and reconnect with one another.
